The Family Business Review

Before you can move forwards together - you need to understand each other more clearly.

You have built something significant together. But even the strongest couples in business can find themselves stuck in the same patterns, having the same conversations that go nowhere, the same decisions that stall, the same tension that follows you from the boardroom to the kitchen table without either of you quite understanding why.

Most of the time it isn't about strategy. It isn't about the business. It's about the fact that you are two different people, with different personalities, different working styles, different communication needs and different ways of processing pressure. And nobody has ever given you a clear, evidence-based picture of exactly how those differences interact.

That is what The Family Business Review does.

Understanding you — as individuals and as partners

At the heart of The Family Business Review is DISC profiling: a research-backed behavioural tool that captures a precise, detailed picture of how each of you thinks, communicates, makes decisions and responds under pressure.

For couples in business together DISC is particularly powerful. It doesn't just tell you who you are individually. It shows you why you respond to each other the way you do. It can shed some insight into questions like: Why certain conversations escalate before either of you intended them to? Why one of you needs to decide quickly while the other needs time to think? Why directness lands as aggression? Why silence lands as indifference? Why the same conversation keeps happening on repeat?

When those dynamics are understood, with evidence rather than assumption and with clarity rather than blame, everything lifts and becomes easier - decisions become cleaner, communication becomes more natural and the friction that has been costing you energy quietly begins to dissolve.

I am certified to deliver DISC profiling through The Coaching Academy.

For when the extended family is involved, FEAT® is used

When your business involves four or more family members, such as a partner, children, siblings or extended family, The Family Business Review expands to include the FEAT® Assessment alongside DISC profiling.

The FEAT® Assessment (Family Business Assessment Tool) was developed by Caroline Bailey and Dr Dennis Jaffe, owned by Premier Growth and operated by Stacey Conrad. It is delivered exclusively by trained and certified practitioners worldwide. I am a certified FEAT® practitioner.

Where DISC gives you a precise picture of each individual, FEAT® captures how the family and business function together as a whole system identifying strengths, surfacing risks and revealing the dynamics that individual profiling alone cannot show. Because the process is completely anonymous every participant can share honestly and openly without fear of judgement.

For couples whose business has grown to involve wider family members, or who are navigating succession, transition or entrenched family tension, the addition of FEAT® brings a level of systemic clarity that transforms what becomes possible.

What you walk away with

The Family Business Review is not a report that sits in a drawer. It is a living, evidence-based foundation, a clear picture of who you each are, how you work together as partners and where the most important opportunities for change and growth lie.

From that foundation we design what comes next together. Whether that is an ongoing partnership, a mediation process, a targeted intervention or simply a clearer sense of direction and understanding than you had before, the review gives you something solid to build from.

  • Clarity where there was confusion

A clear, evidence-based picture of how your family and business system actually works - and where the most important opportunities for change lie.

  • Voices heard, perspectives understood

The confidential and anonymous process means every participant can share honestly. Often for the first time, people feel genuinely heard - and genuinely understand each other.

  • A foundation for everything that follows

Whether the next step is strategic planning, succession, conflict resolution or ongoing advisory support - the FEAT® Assessment gives you the insight and alignment to move forward with confidence.
